What the certifications mean

Third-party certification versus membership.

BAFE SP203-1 is UKAS-accredited third-party certification: an independent certification body (in our case NICEIC) audits our procedures, our engineers’ competence and a sample of our installed systems every year. The scheme has four modules, and a certificate can cover any combination. Ours covers all four: design, installation, commissioning and maintenance.

The ECA Technical Compliance Certificate is an independent assessment by the Electrical Contractors’ Association of our technical competence in fire detection and alarm systems and the quality management around it.

FIA membership is a trade association membership with a code of practice, not a certification. It matters because the FIA sets the training our engineers take for BS 5839 competence.

Certificates and insurance documents are available to procurement teams through the tender evidence library.
